SAY IT!!!!

i wasn't gonna post anything today but i came across another leak from Termanology's mixtape "If Heaven Was A Mile Away: Tribute to J Dilla" (dropping New Year's Day!!). i wasn't too impressed with the last leak with his click ST. Da Squad, but this sh*t right here?!??!?! FUEGO. i remember Lacks rocked this joint on the Jay Love Japan project, the beat on this is just bonkers...i swear i could listen to that instrumental all day. this jawn features Sheek Louch, Joell Ortiz, Bun B, Saigon & Freeway (BTW that Month Of Madness series Free's been dropping, has been SO consistent. can't wait for a full length). you gotta love that Dilla shout out from Bun-B, it shows that Jay's music REALLY touched everyone. RIP to the legend.

"Say what you want but they gon' Pay Jay..."

I used to kill this beat when i first heard it on the Dilla Treats beat cds... we all heard Teddy Rileys flip on "Right Here" and Extra P's on "It Ain't Hard To Tell", but since then i dont think anyone tried to re-touch that sample. Dilla's twist on any Jackson sample is always incredible... im glad some of them are being released as songs. here's a track from Termanology's tribute dropping on Jan.1.
Justus League boys rep on the jawn as well....GO!!! RIP to the G.O.A.T.

Don't Sleep: The King James Version

i remember Dave New York dropped a Dilla Tribute tape called "The Ma Dukes Collection" last year, it was a collection of freestyles and songs on unreleased Jay Dee beats... Rhettmatic, J Rock and Houseshoes each had tribute sets and "A Legend In His Own Time" was included.
Houseshoes decided to stretch that set to 75 min. and call it "The King James Version". this is for all you true Jay Dee heads (not you fake ass "DonutsIsTheFirstDillaSh*tIHeardAndNowIRockHisTShirtLikeIBeenDownFromTheJump" losers), and believe me this does not disappoint. 75 minutes of straight Dilla breaks, some from the popular joints and some from his beat treat cd's thats been leaked allllllll over the net. i found myself just sitting in awe, wondering how this dude worked his magic. i mean, the body of work Jay put in this game is just straight impeccable, he will FOREVER be missed. peep game below for track 1 of the set. DON'T HATE B*TCH, MAKE SOME NOISE!!!! GO!!!

easily one of my favorite artists from my city. Lindo's been repping 'longside Kardinal for a minute now, and is doin' it well!! aside from being a member of Toronto's Black Jayz crew, this solo artist stands strong on his own two. from the many many many chunes i've heard, i'm surprised he hasn't blown up yet! can't wait for his album, which i have no idea when or if its dropping. i won't even go on... peep the music and TRY to deny it. i dare you.

"..it all comes crashing down..."

one of my favorite joints on "Seeing Sounds" well.... next to "You Know What". Peep dat.

uh huh. a CANADIAN super-hero.

as much as i rep the cold north, this one reason makes me even more proud. as a kid, i was a hardcore comic book head. EARLY!! from the x-men to the justice league, from the wildcats to gen13.. i was ON it. every tuesday, i'd hit up the corner store and pick up a new issue from the racks. it was a good hobby too because unlike action figures, it wasn't too pricey. so comics and sports cards were a good alternative to x'mas toys. obviously, WOLVERINE was my favorite (as everyone else) but aside from the adamantium bones, healing factor and ILL fatalities, Logan was/is Canadian. when i first found out, i was EXTRA hype. the only canadian super heroes i knew at the time were The Alpha Flight. and those muh fugguz were terrible. wack costumes, some sasquatch looking dude and on top of that one of the members Northstar was a flamer. uggh. dat nah mek it. Like the Joker, Wolverines origin was always a mystery but in time, with all the given clues and info, we were all able to put the pieces together. hence the new X-Men chapter on the big screen. i could go on and on and on about this but i'll leave it up to the flick when it drops in May 09. here's the trailer...

Don't Sleep: Charles Hamilton

Although i'm not down with his pink (where is Cam'ronnn..? lol) and sonic fetish, i can't even front on Charles Hamilton's skills. he's created a nice buzz over the past few years, and is a part of the new wave of MC's coming outta New York. and believe me, we NEED NYC back....or i do atleast. anway, he recently signed with Interscope Records and will release a full length sometime in the near future. but as usual, Interscope found another advantage to cash in on... hip hop's favorite past times, beef. i don't know the full story but someone said this and the other said that and now.. .. .. Charles Hamilton VS. Souljah Boy. the whole joke is that they're both on the same label... with new LPs on the way. Ha, you're the REAL evil genius, Mr. Iovine. ain't nothin like shaking up your own home huh? keep the traditon alive...lol
whatever tho, here's a vid Charles did in response to Souljah Boy's rant. i didnt post that up cuz all it was, was a buncha sh*t talking, jewel flashin', bus touring, money throwing, etc. MEH. here's Sonic reindition of "Can't Believe It"...

"..this aint no ICE-T sh*t/ muthaf*cka im vodka, vodka/ in other words im a monster, monster/ so go and play wit ya tonka......truucckkks..." that line kills me. lol

"Brooklyn Girls" track is maaaaaaad fly. peep how Charles flips the KP & Envy joint 'Shorty Swing My Way'...video below...

ok gimmicks aside, Charles got skills. he rhymes, produces, sings and all that extra bullsh*t..lol
Google him up, hes got MANY mixtapes online...my fave is "..Then they Played Dilla". here's his latest effort ...

The Pink Lava Lamp (click to download)

AND in relation to the post below... heres a vid of the Cory Gunz/Charles Hamilton/Green Lantern collabo. NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH!!!! that sh*t used to bump hard in the whip... peep dat iddish!!

yerp. i know everyone's tired of Heartbreak 'Ye but this joint is fly as f**k. and guess what? NO AUTO-TUNE (for you hating azz critics!!), the track is real electronica-like and features Santogold & Lykke Li (BEEN bumping that joint with Drake for minute!!) this is the first leak from N.A.S.A. (North America South America), which is a collective of like minded artists who got together to make great music with heavy Brazilian / favela funk influences. should be interesting....

**A Bathing Ape has released a full 384-page full color book to celebrate the brand’s 15 years of existence. The book provides readers a great look at the history of A Bathing Ape from all of the different collaborations to the various celebrities who have worn Bape in addition to a timeline of when various Bape products were released.

Don't Sleep: Ty & Kory...Raw & Bangin'!!!!

i swear every r&b thug wanted to be the next jodeci. dru hill, jagged edge, jahiem, and many others have attempted but failed. it aint that the music wasnt good enough, but nobody was sold on the whole 'bad boy' image (i wasn't atleast) . hell, k-ci & jojo couldnt even be the next jodeci. all comparisons aside, what im getting to is this new r&b duo, Ty & Kory. i first heard these cats on Black Milk's Popular Demand LP on a joint called "U" and i played the sh*t outta that song. the way these dudes harmonize is ridiculous. some studio nerds may differ, but Ty & Kory provide what other singers can't, the human element. and what i mean by that is just that raw, real, natural talent. these guys obviously dont sound like they're trained vocally, but the natural talent is undeniable. i know this may sound like a wierd comparison but think Bobby Womack (Ty) and Raphael Saadiq (Kory). which brings me back to my first point. they aint jodeci but they are damn sure close to it. and what drove jodeci's LPs was the production. no outsiders, just straight Bassment (DeVante's production group). Ty & Kory's got a solid team backing them, Jack Sample Pros, which creates their own genre of R&B... raw & banging. here's some new sh*t to get y'all acquainted...

Ty & Kory - I Can't Let You Go
Ty & Kory - Making Love

they dropped 2 mixtapes over the years entitled Raw & Banging Vol.'s 1 & 2. i woulda uploaded em but they're at the crib so y'all gon hafta wait for that. HOWEVER u can stream Vol. 2 @ BUDDA BROWN

WOW...INCREDIBLE!!! i used to do the same sh*t as a kid...well, without the mixer...

shout out to N1 Illa for the vid... oldie but goodie!

2000 'til.... forever...reincarnated.

what up tho?!?!? so i got the advance for Musiq Soulchild's latest "On My Radio" and err... kinda got mixed feeling bout this one. i picked up every album he dropped since "Aijuswannasing" and the one thing i always admired was his consistency. i mean, i could play his full catalog and not skip a track because the formula was always there....well, until i heard his latest single "Radio". straight up, that sh*t was garbage! ok ok.. if i heard it in the club, i'd probably 2 step it out but stILL... that song gets NO PLAY in the whip whatsoever. which kinda upset me cuz Musiq STAYS dropping that dope sh*t. but yeah, so i took in this album and it was ok. the ballads are alot better than the uptempo joints which was weird because all the previous LPs were the other way around. my expectations for Musiq are pretty high i must say... so this album threw me off a little. HOWEVER, i found the gem that makes this sh*t worth listening to. you know.. that one song that so undeniable, you end up giving the rest of the songs a chance? uh huh. had this sh*t on repeat on the subway all morning...

Musiq Soulchild- Until

what makes it even better is the sample thats used on the joint. you can never go wrong with Marvin!!! the lyrical content of "Until" works amazing with the original...the concept is so ill. peep game below...

i guess the album will grow on me... but i'll bump this until.....

i-i-i-its the n-n-new NEW!!!!!

if anything i'm more surprised more than ever. its my 2nd day blogging and i haven't quit ...(yet). usually with this inna'net iddish, i start something up, get hype, then lazy, then eventually move on and forget about everything. believe me, i probably created about 10 websites since i first hit the web...this was when geocities was that hot sh*t. on another note, this actually gives something extra to do during my excessive downtime at the 9-5. AND im also surprised at the # of hits i've got since yesterday. 100 plus and no comments? meh, it ain't nothin anyway... reminds me of my 'myspace'. lol. goodlooking out tho! whoever y'all are.... =)

today.....i'm on that new sh*t. 08's last quarter for music has been amazing. hip hop especially. i give up on it every now and then, but this time around.. its been consistent. and yes i know EVERYONE HATES the new kanye. f*ck that sh*t, that album is RIDICULOUS. give it time and soon y'all will be jamming to it same way. and another one.. (now let that echo out!!) introducing LVD!!!

to those that know my music, y'all know Dyce is my partner in crime. being that im the laziest hardworking producer ever, he always makes sure the loose ends are tied up!! i honestly do not know what i'd do without him..lol my mixes would definitely be all static and distortion, for real tho! but besides being one of my closest friends, this muh'fugguh got some TALENT. a man of many hats.. producer, engineer, director, photographer, graphic designer, etc. ....this dude does it all. make sure you check his myspace for further proof!! click here!!!

ok, just to give a quick run down on what LVD is... its a group we formed with the concept: Lyve VS. Dyce. we kinda drew inspiration from that jawn from Meth's Tical LP "Meth VS. Chef" (nuff of y'all slept on that sh*t). anyway, anything we create as a collective will be under LVD. whether rhymes or beats, the stamp will be on it. this joint right here is the result of one of the MANY lifted sessions. we went in the lab with NO IDEA what to do. so after many hours, piff and youtube clips.....here it is!! lemme kno what y'all thaink!!

LVD- "Mynd Made Up"

and for the record, we can't even remember what the sample was. all i know is that we typed in "bollywood" on youtube and chopped the first thing that came up.. lol
